I’m Catholic, so in that sense this is, of course, a Catholic blog. But you don’t have to be one yourself, in order to read and comment here. Some notes if you are not:

-Please ask questions! Since we’ll be looking at medieval European history, there’s going to be a lot of references to ‘catholic’ stuff. If I mention something and you don’t know what it is, just ask. I enjoy explaining things to people.

-No apologetics debates, please. If you really want to debate religions, there are several places linked in the sidebar where you can do so. I happen to thoroughly enjoy apologetics, but I haven’t got time for internet debates right now. (If you are a personal friend, come over for coffee sometime, I’ll happily indulge you.)

-No bashing of any religion. That means that if you aren’t catholic, no one should be making fun of your beliefs (or lack of them) on this blog. Please let me know if someone is giving you a hard time. Also, I try to pick links in the sidebar to people who are friendly and respectful; there are, however, a few curmudgeons in the lot, if they happen to have a site that is otherwise very helpful.  You’ll need to pray for them.  (Or just ignore them.)

Respect for all people, by the way, extends even to the very marginalized — the unborn, death row inmates, illegal immigrants, celebrities, politicians, right-wing schismatic nutcases, left-wing schismatic nutcases, middle-class suburban american nutcases . . . everybody.

If you see someone in the combox disregarding these basic tenets of civilized behavior, please gently point them to this page for a refresher course.
